Neve Robinson
Howdy. I’m Neve, I’m 22 years old and I’m an American Studies student living in South Manchester. I founded this madcap online zine, dig? I edit it and do a bit of scrawling myself, too, when I can be bothered. I love my records and I love my writing, so it made sense to collide the two! I also write personal essays for Outlander Magazine, where you can find all of my other ramblings. I’m also a professional gobshite on the radio. My main hope for this site was just to create a place where everyone can share their passions for all things sonic – and a fresh platform for smaller, upcoming artists. Anybody can and should contribute. Music is a thing best shared and waxed lyrical about, after all!

Joshua Loynes
Josh is a 21 year old aspiring music writer who lives with me in our South Manchester palace. Don’t jump straight to the assumption of nepotism, mind, just because he’s my best mate – the boy knows his stuff, and he’s got an extensive history in music journalism. He’s the brains of this whole operation. My head feature writer, Josh handles the interviews and reviews for new incoming singles and can set up Zoom talks with any artists looking for a platform to review them. He also carefully curates our Spotify account and playlists, so expect a heavy amount of Neil Young and The Travelling Wilburys, won’t you?

Matilda Wigley
Tilly is a 21 year old Philosophy student living in Sheffield. She has very kindly designed the logo, groovy graphics for this site and our socials, as well as come up with a cool colour palette to use in future posts! An artist and a very talented writer, she writes a variety of thinkpieces for her own blog Mindframed about politics and her general views on the world. She also showcases some of her incredible art, visible on Mindframed’s Instagram. She’s a creative Northern Powerhouse of a woman. Expect big things from Miss Matilda!

Madeleine Healey
Mads is a 22 year old Drama student living in Didsbury. She writes general music features for Robinson’s Recs, her area of music expertise ranging from Motown classics to sizzling show tunes. When she’s not scribbling her life away for me, she is an incredible actor represented by Liberty Rep UK, having worked at the Royal Exchange Theatre. I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone who knows quite as much about records as Mads; her sheer adoration for music just radiates out of her, and I’m over the moon that she’s on the team. We’re the figureheads for the wonderful Bits ‘N’ Bops With Mads & Neve, isn’t that ace?!

Joshua Phillips
Josh is a 22 year old musician, producer and recording artist living in Salford, UK. He is one of our feature writers, and an electric one at that. Josh is a Jack-of-all-trades musically. He draws influence from art and political theory, as well as utilizing the works of his favourite artists: Joni Mitchell, The Fall, Steve Reich and Brian Eno to name a few. He’s making a name for himself not only with his music journalism, but in his own records. His newest single “Oh My” is out now on Inner City Recordings, and is available on all streaming platforms. When he’s famous, he best not forget us!

Angus C. Rolland
Angus is a 25 year old writer who kindly lends us his verbal prowess. He primarily writes for Silent Radio and other miscellaneous entities (on occasion) such as Yuck Magazine, Other Sounds Xine and the Independents Network. He is slowly refining myself toward pitching to larger publications as well as an intention to expand into other journalistic arenas like politics and history. He also attempts to write scripts, poorly structured poems (his words, not mine), short stories and even assists in the development of student films, as well as perpetually cycling around in search of Lidl.

Alex Lamont
Alex is a 20 year old Film & English Lit at the University of Manchester from (you guessed it!) Manchester. He is an avid music fan and a very gifted poet. Alex posts his poetry on his personal Instagram here, and writes about a myriad of topics from personal topics to more general takes on the world. He writes a variety of features for Robinson’s Records, and we’re more than happy to have him and his wonderful words aboard!

Hannah Ogden
Hannah is a 20-year-old History student at Manchester Metropolitan University, professional mannequin, and antiques enthusiast, originally hailing from the magical land of Hull. Being surrounded by musicians for most of her life provides her a unique insider knowledge of music theory, without requiring the effort of playing an intrument. Just dipping her toe into the world of music journalism, Robinson’s Records has provided the perfect non-elitist platform for her to explore beyond academic writing (her words, not mine – too kind!!!)

Varun Govil
Varun is a 21-year-old drummer, bassist, and writer currently living in Leeds. Playing for bands like Fuzz Lightyear and editing for the Leeds alternative arts and music blog DRABmag, he’s learned a thing or two about the underground and DIY scenes across the best city in the North. Not one to be pigeonholed though, Varun can talk to you about anything from the most delicate folk and free form jazz, all the way to painful pure noise nights and dense grunge bands. Find him trying to legitimize his bands so they can be the next big thing!

Nathan Bailey
Nathan is a twenty-something originally from North Wales. Moving to the city to study, he has been living in Manchester the past five years. After many moons ago writing for a couple of local blogs that unfortunately have now gone to the great WordPress in the sky, he is trying to get back into the halcyon arena of little research and large opinion that is music journalism.

Lewis Oxley
Lewis is a 23 year old Journalism MA student living in South Manchester. He is an experienced music journalist, who has written on topics such as Richey Edwards and Riot Girrl. I mainly write features and reviews. His main music interests are anything vaguely left-field and abstract as well as 70s post-punk, krautrock, and electronic music. As well as music writing he has branched out into wider arts and culture journalism. You will often find him doing long canal walks to Salford, in Aldi, or at the Whitworth (when it’s open).

Lana Williams
Manchester born and bred, Lana is a 21 year old Earth and Planetary science student at the University of Manchester. She runs her own blog Music is to Blame (Music Is To Blame) and has worked as a music journalist for the past five years and as a concert photographer since 2018. She also writes for other platforms such as The Mancunion, CLUNK and SPEW. If Wolf Alice are in town, you’ll be sure to find Lana front and centre.

Oliver Hockings
Ollie is a 22 year old Masters student at the University of Manchester who did his undergrad in History and has now moved into Political Science. Hailing from the crown jewel of the North West: Blackpool, Ollie grew up living and breathing the Northern music scene and has been gigging since 10 when his dad introduced him to ACDC! An upbringing of all things Smiths, Stone Roses and Oasis combined with a recent passion for house music and leftfield electronic made Madchester a natural choice to live and study. He has been drumming since a young age and is now teaching himself electronic music production and mixing. Interested in getting into the world of journalism he is currently freelancing for the Mancunion and Music is to Blame.

Emily is a 22 year old final year student at the University of Manchester studying Politics and French. She realised just how much she liked writing about things that make her tick after doing a piece on the extremely highbrow show Married at First Sight Australia for Sludge Magazine, and is trying to up her writing game – which wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for amazing sites just like this one! (Emily wrote this one, we’re not that vain, honest..)

Amelia Lloyd
Amelia Lloyd is a Freelance Contributing Journalist and Stylist / Image Maker living in Manchester. She is currently studying at The University of Salford and spends her non-academic time performing in the two-piece band SLAP RASH. Lloyd has been writing as a Freelance Contributor for Clash Magazine since March 2021 and hopes in the future to present further interviews with an array of musical talent. Amelia considers herself a firm but fair critic and above all loves to appreciate and create music.
