CHARLIE WATTS (2 JUNE 1941 – 24 AUGUST 2021)
Here at Robinson’s Records we are blindsided and devastated by the tragic news about Charlie Watts, drummer of the Rolling Stones. Charlie was a humble and sweet soul – as he said himself; “I’ve never filled the stereotype of the rockstar.” In truth, he was far more than that – he was a true artist, voraciously so, and he will be missed terribly. It was an honour to be able to see the great man doing what he loved the most. Rest, Charlie.
“I wanted to play drums because I fell in love with the glitter and the lights, but it wasn’t about adulation. It was about being up there playing.”
A total legend and irreplaceable. Amazing that he was into jazz and Rock and Roll – not so much. R.I.P.
